Marriage Certificate Apostille in Delhi

Marriage certificate apostille in Delhi is the fastest case in the country, because every counter involved is already in the same city. No courier leg, no waiting for transit, and you can hand the certificate over in person if you prefer.

  • All 11 districts
  • SDM attestation
  • MEA apostille
  • Embassy legalisation
  • Walk-in or pickup

Why a Delhi certificate is the quickest

For a certificate from any other state, the clock is dominated by courier time — the document has to reach Delhi and then travel home again. For a Delhi-issued certificate none of that applies. The SDM office that attests it, the MEA counter that apostilles it and every embassy that might need to see it are all within the same city, and our office in New Ashok Nagar is in the same city too.

That removes the two things that usually go wrong: documents lost or delayed in transit, and the days spent waiting to find out which of those happened.

Marriage certificate apostille in Delhi: the process

  1. You hand over the original Either at our office in New Ashok Nagar or by pickup from your address in Delhi NCR.
  2. SDM attestation A Sub-Divisional Magistrate attests the certificate. For a Delhi certificate this is a local step with no transit attached.
  3. MEA apostille The Ministry of External Affairs places the apostille sticker with its QR code.
  4. Embassy legalisation — only if the destination needs it For the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, China, Vietnam and other non-Convention countries, one more stamp from that embassy in New Delhi.
  5. Collection or delivery Collect it from our office or have it delivered to your address.

Both kinds of Delhi marriage certificate can be apostilled

Hindu Marriage Act certificate

Issued by the district registrar in Delhi. It goes through Notary, SDM and MEA exactly like any other Delhi marriage certificate.

Special Marriage Act certificate

Issued by the Marriage Officer in Delhi. It is apostilled on the same route, with no extra stage and no extra charge.

Both are apostilled the same way and both are equally acceptable abroad. What matters is that the certificate carries a clear seal and a legible signature — a faded or badly photocopied certificate causes more trouble at the counter than which Act it was registered under.

Why a Delhi marriage certificate is needed abroad

Spouse and dependant visas

Almost every country asks for a legalised marriage certificate before granting a spouse a visa or residence permit.

Job relocation with family

Employers abroad need the marriage proved before adding a spouse to housing, insurance or relocation support.

Immigration and settlement

Permanent residence applications to Canada, Australia and the UK require it as a core civil document.

Name change records

Changing a surname on a foreign passport, bank account or licence usually requires the marriage certificate.

A Delhi-specific warning. Because everything is local, people often leave it to the last week before a visa appointment. That works right up until it does not — a counter closed for a holiday, a signature mismatch, or an embassy that takes longer than usual, and there is no slack left at all.

Being in Delhi removes the courier risk. It does not remove the queue.

Where to get marriage certificate apostille in Delhi

You can approach MEA through its authorised channels yourself, or hand the whole file to someone who does it daily. If you would rather do it yourself, that is a perfectly reasonable choice and we will tell you honestly what the steps are.

If you would rather not spend the days on it, INFINITYGRO is at C–5 A/2, New Ashok Nagar. You are welcome to come in with the certificate, and because you are in the same city you can collect it in person rather than waiting on a courier.

What to send us

  • The original marriage certificate issued in Delhi, signed and sealed by the registrar.
  • Passport copies of both husband and wife (first and last pages).
  • The destination country and what it has asked for — a visa checklist, an employer's email or an embassy requirement in writing.
  • A phone number we can reach you on while the file is at the counter.

Photocopies are not accepted. MEA works on the original certificate only. A colour photocopy, a scanned print or a laminated certificate will be refused at the first stage — and lamination cannot always be removed without damaging the document, so never laminate a certificate you plan to get apostilled.

Charges

Our charge for a marriage certificate apostille is ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 per certificate. Postal and courier charges are separate and depend on where the document travels from and back to.

If your destination country needs embassy legalisation on top of the apostille, that embassy's own fee is extra and is quoted separately — each embassy sets its own schedule and revises it from time to time, so we give you the current figure in writing rather than publishing a number that goes stale.

What we do and what we do not do

We handle

  • Notary attestation in Delhi
  • SDM attestation in Delhi
  • MEA apostille and MEA attestation
  • Embassy and consulate legalisation in New Delhi
  • Translation where the destination country asks for it
  • Document pickup and tracked return across India

We do not handle

  • State Home Department or General Administration attestation
  • State HRD or Higher Education Department authentication
  • Issuing, correcting or re-registering the marriage certificate
  • MOFA attestation inside the destination country
  • Visa, immigration or family-residence applications

Our work starts with a marriage certificate you already hold. We do not register marriages, issue new certificates or correct entries — that is done by the registrar in Delhi. What we do is make your existing certificate valid abroad through the apostille.

If someone abroad has specifically asked for Home Department attestation from Delhi, tell us before you book. In most cases the SDM route we run is accepted instead — and where it is not, we will say so plainly rather than take the file and return it unfinished.

Questions people in Delhi ask

Can I come to your office with the certificate?

Yes. We are at C–5 A/2, New Ashok Nagar, Delhi – 110096, open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Call first on +91 85955 58517 so someone is expecting you.

Is a Delhi certificate really faster than one from another state?

Yes, but the saving is in transit, not at the counters. The SDM and MEA stages take the same time for everybody. What a Delhi certificate avoids is the days spent travelling to Delhi and back.

My certificate is laminated. What now?

Lamination is a real problem — the stamps have to go onto the paper itself. Do not try to peel it off at home; bring it in and we will tell you whether it can be removed safely or whether a fresh copy from the registrar is the better route.

Do both husband and wife need to be present?

No. Neither of you needs to be present at any counter. We need the original certificate and passport copies of both of you.

Can you do it the same day?

Not honestly, no. The stages involve separate offices with their own working hours, and anyone promising a same-day apostille is either skipping a stage or guessing. Call us with your deadline and we will tell you whether it is achievable before you commit.

How do I verify the apostille?

Scan the QR code on the MEA sticker — it checks against the ministry's own record.

Send us the certificate details

Tell us which office in Delhi issued the certificate and which country it is going to. That is enough for us to confirm the exact stages, the charge and a realistic timeline.
