Indonesia Embassy Attestation Fees 2026: Apostille or Embassy Stamp for Jakarta?
Indonesia Embassy Attestation is what most people search for, yet since 2022 only some Indian documents still need the Indonesian Embassy at all. Teachers in Jakarta, mining engineers in Kalimantan, garment managers in Bandung and exporters shipping to Surabaya each follow a different route.
Direct answer: Indonesia's accession to the Hague Apostille Convention took effect on 4 June 2022. Indian educational and personal documents now need only the MEA apostille; no embassy stamp. Commercial documents follow our embassy route: Chamber of Commerce, then MEA attestation, then legalisation at the Embassy of Indonesia, New Delhi. A sworn Bahasa Indonesia translation is often requested in Indonesia.

Indonesia Embassy Attestation or apostille? The two-track rule
Before mid-2022 every Indian paper bound for Indonesia needed Indonesia Embassy Attestation. Accession changed that for degrees and civil records. Trade paperwork is handled differently in our practice, because Indonesian importers, banks and regulators routinely expect the embassy's legalisation on Chamber-certified commercial papers.
| Document group | Route | Last stamp | Embassy involved? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Educational: degree, diploma, transcripts, school certificates | Notary → State HRD → MEA apostille | MEA apostille | No |
| Personal: PCC, birth, marriage, experience, affidavits | Notary → SDM / Home Dept → MEA apostille | MEA apostille | No |
| Passport Seva PCC | MEA apostille directly | MEA apostille | No |
| Commercial: invoices, CoO, company papers, product certificates | Chamber of Commerce → MEA attestation → Indonesian Embassy | Embassy legalisation | Yes |
Two terms: an apostille is a single MEA certificate that member states accept without consular involvement. Embassy legalisation (attestation) is the Indonesian mission's own stamp placed over MEA's attestation.
Who needs Indonesian-ready documents, and for what?
Work permits and KITAS
An Indonesian employer must hold an approved foreign-worker plan (RPTKA) before an Indian hire receives a work visa and a limited stay permit (KITAS). The apostilled degree shows the qualification matches the position, experience letters prove years in the field, and many sponsors add a police clearance. Typical roles: IT leads, teachers, garment managers, coal-mining engineers and chefs.
Dependants
Spouses and children join on dependant KITAS, supported by the apostilled marriage certificate and each child's apostilled birth certificate.
Students, marriage and returning Indonesians
Indonesian students who graduated in India, many on ICCR scholarships, apostille their degrees for equivalence (penyetaraan ijazah) at home. Couples marrying in Indonesia register through the civil registry (Dukcapil) or the KUA and usually need an apostilled single status affidavit.

Degree certificate attestation for Indonesia
Immigration compares the degree with the RPTKA job title, so send the qualification that fits:
- B.Tech, B.E., MCA and M.Tech degrees for IT and engineering posts
- B.Ed, M.A. and M.Sc for international-school teaching
- MBA and B.Com for finance and management roles
- Transcripts, marksheets and provisional certificates
- 10th and 12th certificates
- NotarisationA notary certifies the original.
- State education departmentThe HRD desk of the issuing state verifies the degree, with university confirmation where needed.
- MEA apostilleMEA attaches a numbered apostille. The file is complete; the Indonesian Embassy is not involved.
Indonesia apostille for PCC, birth and marriage records
Civil documents go from a notary to the SDM (Delhi) or the state Home Department and then to MEA for the apostille. This covers marriage certificate attestation for Indonesia, birth certificate attestation for Indonesia, experience certificate attestation for Indonesia, divorce decrees, death certificates, medical reports, affidavits and powers of attorney.
PCC attestation for Indonesia is the quickest: a certificate from Passport Seva or an RPO goes straight to MEA without any state step.

Checklist, Bahasa translation and common slip-ups
- Original documents, not laminated
- Passport copy with consistent name spelling
- Employer's RPTKA or KITAS checklist, or the buyer's document list
- For companies: letterhead, seal and signatory ID
Bahasa Indonesia is the official language. Immigration, Dukcapil and courts often want a translation by a sworn translator (penerjemah tersumpah), made after the apostille or embassy stamp.
- Sending a degree to the embassy after 2022: unnecessary cost
- Getting an apostille on invoices when the Indonesian buyer expects embassy legalisation
- Name or date mismatches between passport, degree and KITAS forms

Indonesia attestation FAQs
Does Indonesia accept an apostille from India?
Yes. Indonesia's membership of the Apostille Convention has applied since 4 June 2022, so Indian degrees, birth and marriage certificates, PCCs and other personal papers need only the MEA apostille. No Indonesian Embassy stamp is required for them.
Do I still need Indonesia Embassy Attestation for anything?
Yes, for commercial documents. Certificates of origin, invoices, product certificates and company papers go through a Chamber of Commerce, MEA attestation and legalisation at the Embassy of Indonesia in New Delhi.
What are the Indonesia embassy attestation fees?
Apostilled papers with us cost ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 for a Passport Seva PCC, from ₹1,500 for a birth certificate and ₹1,500 to ₹2,500 for a marriage certificate. Degrees are quoted by state; commercial papers per document with the embassy charge included.
Which documents are needed for an Indonesian KITAS?
Employers usually request the apostilled degree matching the job, experience letters, a passport copy and sometimes a police clearance. The sponsor's RPTKA approval decides the final list, so share it with us before we start.
How do I bring my family to Indonesia?
Dependants apply for a dependant KITAS linked to your permit. The apostilled marriage certificate proves the marriage and each child's apostilled birth certificate proves parentage. A sworn Bahasa translation may be asked for.
How long does an Indonesia apostille take?
A Passport Seva PCC is often apostilled in two to four working days, birth and marriage certificates in about a week, and degrees in one to three weeks depending on the state. Embassy legalisation of trade papers takes roughly 7 to 12 working days.
Do I need a Bahasa Indonesia translation?
Often, yes. Immigration, the civil registry and courts commonly want a translation by a sworn translator in Indonesia. Translate after the apostille or embassy stamp so that every endorsement is included.
Why do commercial documents still go to the embassy?
Indonesian buyers, customs brokers and regulators such as BPOM routinely expect the Indonesian Embassy's legalisation on Chamber-certified trade papers. Following that route avoids rejection at the importer's end, which is why we use it for all commercial files.
I am Indonesian and studied in India. What do I need?
Apostille your degree and transcripts through the state education department and MEA before you leave India. Indonesia's education ministry then uses them for degree equivalence (penyetaraan ijazah). The embassy is not needed for this.
Where is the Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi?
The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia is at 50-A Kautilya Marg, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi 110021, telephone 011-2611 8642 to 8646, email newdelhi.kbri@kemlu.go.id. Confirm timings before visiting.
Can I send papers from outside Delhi?
Yes. Our courier picks up originals from any Indian city, we finish the apostille or embassy legalisation in Delhi, and the documents come back to you by tracked post with WhatsApp updates at each stage.
