Quick answer

What does Luxembourg need from Indian documents?

Luxembourg embassy attestation for an Indian document is completed by the MEA apostille. Luxembourg signed the Apostille Convention in 1961 and has applied it since 1979; India joined in 2005, and the HCCH table shows no objection between them. The Embassy of Luxembourg in New Delhi therefore does not add a stamp, and Luxembourg offices check the MEA apostille.

Indians moving to Luxembourg are often hired by banks, fund administrators, IT firms and steel or engineering companies, and many apply for an EU Blue Card or a salaried worker permit. Their families follow under family reunification. These cases call for apostilled degrees, experience letters, marriage and birth certificates. Luxembourg uses three administrative languages, Luxembourgish, French and German, so ask early which one your file needs.

Part 1 · Apostille or attestation

Luxembourg accepts the MEA apostille

According to the HCCH status table (checked October 2026), the Convention entered into force for Luxembourg on 3 June 1979 and for India on 14 July 2005, and no objection between them is recorded. A document apostilled by India’s MEA is therefore accepted in Luxembourg.

FAQs

FAQs: Luxembourg embassy attestation

Will Luxembourg accept my apostilled Indian degree?

Yes. Luxembourg has applied the Hague Apostille Convention since 1979 and India since 2005, with no objection between them. A degree carrying the MEA apostille can be presented to a Luxembourg employer or authority without any embassy legalisation.

What is the fee for Luxembourg embassy attestation?

Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per personal or educational document for the MEA stage: notary, SDM, the Rs 50 MEA fee and our service are all included. Courier is charged separately, and company documents with a Chamber of Commerce step are quoted in writing.

Which language does Luxembourg need?

Luxembourg works in Luxembourgish, French and German, and many offices also read English. Whether your English document needs translating depends on the office. If it asks for French or German, INFINITYGRO can quote the translation by page.

How long does it take to apostille documents for Luxembourg?

About 2 to 3 working days after we receive the originals, plus courier days each way. If your work permit or Blue Card file has a deadline, share it when you book and we will confirm in writing whether the dates work.

Can corporate documents for a Luxembourg company be apostilled?

Yes. Board resolutions, certificates of incorporation, powers of attorney and similar papers are first attested by a Chamber of Commerce and then apostilled by the MEA. Agree the exact wording with your Luxembourg advisers before the documents are signed.

Does the Luxembourg Embassy in Delhi legalise Indian documents?

It does not need to. Luxembourg accepts the MEA apostille, so the embassy is not part of the route for Indian public documents. The legalisation and apostille service listed on the embassy’s website relates to documents issued by Luxembourg authorities, not to Indian ones.

Which papers are needed for family reunification in Luxembourg?

Usually the marriage certificate for a spouse and birth certificates for children, each with the MEA apostille. The immigration office in Luxembourg sets the full list and may also ask for other papers, so send us its letter with the originals and we will apostille everything Indian on it.

How do I send documents from Mumbai or Bengaluru?

Courier the originals and a passport copy to our office in New Ashok Nagar, Delhi. We do not collect from homes. When the apostille is done, we return the documents by Blue Dart or another secure courier to the address you give.
