Malta Embassy Attestation in India

Malta embassy attestation for Indian degrees, nursing and diploma certificates, experience letters, police clearance and marriage or birth certificates. Malta has applied the Hague Apostille Convention since 1968, so your document needs the MEA apostille, not a stamp from the High Commission of Malta. We complete notary, SDM and apostille in Delhi and courier the papers back.

Quick answer

Is an apostille enough for Malta?

Malta embassy attestation is not a separate stamp for Indian papers: Malta relies on the MEA apostille. Malta acceded to the Hague Apostille Convention in 1967, India in 2005, and the HCCH table records no objection between them. Employers, licensing bodies and universities in Malta therefore accept a document apostilled in India, and the High Commission in New Delhi is not involved.

Our Malta work is mainly for Indians taking jobs in healthcare, hospitality, IT and other services, who need degrees, diplomas and experience letters apostilled for a single work and residence permit or for professional registration. Spouses joining them, and students enrolling at Maltese institutions, make up the rest. Because English is one of Malta’s two official languages, documents issued in English usually need no translation.

Malta accepts the MEA apostille

The HCCH status table (checked October 2026) shows Malta as a party since 3 March 1968 and India since 14 July 2005, with no objection on record between them. A document bearing the MEA apostille is therefore accepted in Malta without legalisation by the High Commission of Malta.

Before you send documents for Malta

Send us

  • Original documents, not laminated
  • A copy of your passport
  • Your employer’s or recruiting agency’s document checklist for the Maltese permit or registration
  • Your return address and phone number

Watch out for

  • Health workers: check whether the Maltese registration body wants the transcript and the registration certificate as well as the degree
  • Documents in Hindi or a regional language still need an English translation before they are used in Malta
  • Keep your passport and certificate names identical, including initials
  • Book the apostille before the permit appointment, not after; the employer usually submits everything together
FAQs

FAQs: Malta embassy attestation

Does Malta need an embassy stamp after the MEA apostille?

No. Malta and India are both Hague Apostille Convention parties and neither objected to the other, so the apostille alone is accepted. The High Commission of Malta in New Delhi does not need to legalise a document that already carries it.

How much does Malta embassy attestation cost?

The MEA stage costs Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per personal or educational document, including notary, SDM, the Rs 50 MEA fee and our service. Courier is extra. Company documents go through a Chamber of Commerce and are quoted in writing.

Do I need a translation for Malta?

Usually not, if the document is already in English, because English is an official language in Malta. A certificate or record in Hindi or another Indian language does need an English translation, which INFINITYGRO can arrange and quote by page.

Which documents should a nurse apostille for Malta?

Nurses commonly need the nursing degree or diploma, transcripts, the Indian nursing council registration and experience letters. The Maltese employer or registration body has the final list, so send it with your originals and we will apostille everything it names.

How long does the Malta apostille take?

Normally 2 to 3 working days after your documents reach our Delhi office, plus courier time. If your employer has fixed a permit submission date, tell us when you book so we can confirm in writing whether it is realistic.

Where is the High Commission of Malta in India?

The High Commission of Malta is at D-15 Anand Niketan, New Delhi 110021. You do not need to visit it for document purposes, because Maltese employers and authorities accept the MEA apostille directly; visa and permit questions go to the High Commission or your employer.

Can my spouse’s documents be apostilled for family reunification in Malta?

Yes. Family reunification files usually include the marriage certificate and, for children, birth certificates. Each is notarised, attested by the SDM and apostilled by the MEA. Check that names and dates match both passports exactly before sending.

Is there a home pickup for documents?

No. You can courier your originals to our New Ashok Nagar office from anywhere in India or drop them off in person if you are in Delhi. We send the finished documents back by Blue Dart or another secure courier.
