Zambia Embassy Attestation: Fees, Process and Documents
MEA attestation and legalisation at the High Commission of Zambia in New Delhi, for Indian degrees, family certificates and company papers used in Lusaka, the Copperbelt or anywhere in Zambia.

Zambia Embassy attestation: the short answer
Zambia Embassy attestation means getting an Indian document attested by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and then legalised by Zambia’s mission in New Delhi. Because Zambia is a Commonwealth country, its mission is called the High Commission of the Republic of Zambia, but most people search for it as the Zambia Embassy; the stamp is the same thing.
Zambia has not joined the Hague Apostille Convention, so the route is Notary → SDM or Chamber of Commerce → MEA attestation → Zambia High Commission. The MEA fee is ₹50 per document, and the High Commission’s own charge is confirmed in a written quote.
We run the whole file from Delhi for clients across India. Share a photo of the document on WhatsApp (+91-8595558517) and name the Zambian employer, council or agency that will receive it.
Why Zambia asks for legalisation instead of an apostille
Zambia is not a contracting party to the Hague Apostille Convention; it was not on the HCCH status table when we checked it in October 2026. An Indian apostille therefore has no automatic standing in Zambia, and documents can be refused if they carry only an apostille sticker.
The accepted method is the older chain of legalisation. Each authority vouches for the one before it: the notary and SDM (or the chamber) for the issuing office, the MEA for them, and finally the Zambia High Commission for the MEA. A Zambian office reading the last stamp can then trust the whole document.
| Destination | Zambia |
|---|---|
| Hague Apostille Convention | Not a party (HCCH status table, checked October 2026) |
| Route | Notary → SDM or Chamber of Commerce → MEA attestation → Zambia High Commission, New Delhi |
| Mission | High Commission of the Republic of Zambia, New Delhi (often called the Zambia Embassy) |
| Language | English is the official language, so English documents normally need no translation |
| Not covered by us | Issuing or correcting certificates, university verification, and any step inside Zambia |

Zambia Embassy attestation fees and charges
Attestation is charged per document at every stage. Count each certificate separately: a degree with two transcripts is three documents.
| MEA attestation (government fee) | ₹50 per document |
|---|---|
| Notary and SDM, or Chamber of Commerce | Included in the written quote; chamber fees vary by chamber |
| Zambia High Commission legalisation | Charged by the High Commission per document; confirmed in your written quote |
| INFINITYGRO service charge | Quoted per document in writing before you send anything |
| Courier | Extra, both ways |
The High Commission sets and revises its own charges, so we do not print a fixed figure here. The written quote you get from us shows the amount that applies on the day.
- Commercial or personal: company documents add a Chamber of Commerce fee.
- Number of pages and documents: every stamp is per document.
- State of issue: documents from some states need extra checks before the MEA.
- Translation: only for documents not in English.
Time needed for Zambia Embassy attestation
Time depends on three things: the first stamp (SDM or chamber), the MEA stage and the High Commission’s processing. Add courier days at both ends.
We give the expected date in your written quote and keep you updated on WhatsApp after each stamp. If your Zambian employer has a joining date, tell us at the start so we can plan around it.
Documents required for Zambia Embassy attestation
- Original documents to be attested
- Passport copy of the person named on the documents
- Authorisation letter for us to submit on your behalf (format provided)
- Company documents: authorisation on letterhead with seal and the signatory’s ID
- Name of the receiving office in Zambia and the purpose, such as work permit, ZAQA or HPCZ
Tips for a smooth Zambia attestation
- Confirm the document list with the Zambian side. Work permit applications and council registrations do not always ask for the same papers.
- Attest the transcript too if you are a health professional. Councils commonly check subjects and hours, not only the final degree.
- Match names across documents. Initials on a marksheet and full name on a passport can trigger questions; an affidavit may help.
- Keep originals unlaminated. Laminated certificates cannot take stamps.
- Send the export set together. Invoice, packing list and certificate of origin should carry the same consignee and invoice number.

Zambia Embassy attestation FAQs
Is the Zambia Embassy the same as the Zambia High Commission?
Yes. Zambia is a Commonwealth country, so its mission in New Delhi is called the High Commission of the Republic of Zambia. People often call it the Zambia Embassy; the legalisation stamp is the same.
Does Zambia accept an apostille from India?
No. Zambia is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so Indian documents need MEA attestation followed by legalisation at the Zambia High Commission in New Delhi.
What is the process for Zambia Embassy attestation?
Notary and SDM for personal and education documents, or the Chamber of Commerce for company documents, then MEA attestation and finally the Zambia High Commission’s legalisation.
How much does Zambia Embassy attestation cost?
The MEA fee is ₹50 per document. The High Commission charges per document, and our service charge is quoted in writing. Courier is extra.
How many days does Zambia attestation take?
It depends on the document type and the High Commission’s workload. We give the expected date in your written quote and update you after each stamp.
Which documents are needed for a Zambia work permit?
It is decided by the Department of Immigration and your employer, but attested degrees, experience letters and a police clearance certificate are commonly asked for. Confirm the list with your employer.
Do I need to attest my degree for ZAQA?
ZAQA evaluates foreign qualifications and may ask for certified copies. Many applicants attest the degree and transcript first so the same documents can also be used for the work permit.
Can company documents be attested for Zambia?
Yes. MOA, board resolutions, certificates of origin, invoices and product certificates go through the Chamber of Commerce, MEA attestation and the Zambia High Commission.
Do Zambian students who studied in India need attestation?
Usually yes. Degrees and marksheets from Indian universities are attested by the MEA and legalised by the Zambia High Commission before they are used for jobs in Zambia.
Do you collect documents from home?
No. Send the originals by any reputed courier with tracking to our Delhi office, or drop them off. We return them by courier.
