Quick answer

Zimbabwe Embassy attestation: the short answer

Zimbabwe Embassy attestation is the legalisation stamp that the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe in New Delhi puts on an Indian document after the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has attested it. Zimbabwe is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so an MEA apostille is not the right route; the document needs MEA attestation followed by the Embassy’s stamp.

The route is Notary → SDM (personal and education documents) or Chamber of Commerce (company documents) → MEA attestation → Zimbabwe Embassy. The MEA fee is ₹50 per document; the Embassy sets its own charge, which we confirm in a written quote before you send anything.

INFINITYGRO handles the full chain from Delhi for clients anywhere in India. WhatsApp a photo of the document on +91-8595558517 and tell us who in Zimbabwe will receive it.

Part 1 · Apostille or attestation?

Why Zimbabwe needs embassy attestation and not an apostille

An apostille only works between countries that have joined the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention. When we checked the HCCH status table in October 2026, Zimbabwe was not listed as a contracting party. So an Indian document carrying only an MEA apostille sticker can be refused in Zimbabwe, and the money spent on it is wasted.

What Zimbabwean offices accept instead is consular legalisation. The MEA first attests the signature of the Indian authority, and then the Embassy of Zimbabwe in New Delhi confirms the MEA signature. The Embassy’s own consular page says documents must already carry the MEA signature before they are brought for authentication.

Part 3 · The process

Zimbabwe Embassy attestation process, step by step

Every Indian document goes through an Indian authority first, then the MEA, then the Embassy. The first stamp depends on the type of document.

  1. 1
Notary, New DelhiThe certificate is notarised so the next authority can verify it.
  2. 2
SDM attestationThe Sub-Divisional Magistrate authenticates the notarised document.
  3. 3
MEA attestationThe Ministry of External Affairs attests it (₹50 government fee per document).
  4. 4
Embassy of ZimbabweThe Embassy legalises the MEA-attested document in New Delhi.

Commercial and company documents

  1. 1
Notary (where needed)Company-signed papers are notarised first.
  2. 2
Chamber of CommerceA recognised chamber authenticates the company document.
  3. 3
MEA attestationThe MEA attests the chamber’s stamp.
  4. 4
Embassy of ZimbabweThe Embassy adds its legalisation.
Export set: a certificate of origin, commercial invoice and packing list for the same shipment are processed together, each counted as a separate document.
Embassy practice: the Embassy of Zimbabwe asks for two copies of each MEA-signed document, keeps one for its records, and works by appointment. We prepare the copies and book the slot. If the Embassy ever insists on the applicant in person for a particular document, we tell you before you send anything.

Education certificates

Degrees, diplomas, marksheets and transcripts for jobs, professional registration or ZIMCHE evaluation.

Part 5 · Fees and charges

Zimbabwe Embassy attestation fees and charges

Your total depends on how many documents you have and what type they are. Each stamp is paid per document, so we quote document by document.

MEA attestation (government fee)₹50 per document
Notary and SDM, or Chamber of CommerceIncluded in the written quote; the chamber charges its own fee
Embassy of Zimbabwe legalisationSet by the Embassy for each type of document; confirmed in your written quote
INFINITYGRO service chargeQuoted per document in writing before you send anything
CourierExtra, both ways

We do not publish a fixed Embassy figure here, because the Embassy decides what it charges and can revise it. The amount in your quote is the one that applies on the day you send the documents.

  • Type of document: commercial documents go through the Chamber of Commerce, which adds its own fee.
  • Number of documents: a degree and its transcript are two documents for the MEA and the Embassy.
  • Where the document was issued: some states and universities need extra checks before the MEA stage.
  • Urgency: tell us your deadline at the start, so we can tell you honestly whether it can be met.
Part 6 · Time

How long Zimbabwe Embassy attestation takes

The Embassy of Zimbabwe states a processing time of about five business days for authentication, and its consular desk works Monday to Thursday. Add the time for notary, SDM or chamber and the MEA stage before that, and the courier days at both ends.

We give you the expected return date in the written quote, and send WhatsApp updates when the MEA and the Embassy stamps are done. Indian and Zimbabwean public holidays, when the Embassy is closed, are taken into account.

Part 7 · What to send

Documents required for Zimbabwe Embassy attestation

  • The original certificate or document (not a photocopy)
  • Passport copy of the person named on the document
  • Authorisation letter for us to submit on your behalf (we send the format)
  • For company documents: authorisation on letterhead, signed and stamped, with the signatory’s ID copy
  • Purpose of attestation and the receiving office in Zimbabwe, for example employer, council or registry
How to send: pickup is not available. Courier the originals with any reputed courier that gives a tracking number to our office at C-5 A/2, New Ashok Nagar, Delhi 110096, or drop them off in person. We return them by courier to the address you give.
Part 8 · Before you send

Tips before you send documents for Zimbabwe

  • Check names first. The spelling on the degree, passport and marriage certificate should match; a mismatch is the most common reason for a return.
  • Ask the receiving office what it wants attested. Some Zimbabwe employers want only the final degree; councils often want the transcript as well.
  • Do not laminate. Stamps cannot be placed on laminated certificates.
  • Keep scans. We send scans of the attested document before it leaves Delhi, so you can share them with the employer in Zimbabwe immediately.
  • Plan for the Zimbabwe side. Any further step inside Zimbabwe is handled there by your employer or contact; we do not handle it.
